SECTION 1 DRESS CODE:
Studio Dress Code & Footwear Guidelines
- Proper attire ensures safety, freedom of movement, and allows instructors to correct alignment.
- • Ballet & General Classes (Girls): Designated color leotard, pink tights, and pink ballet shoes. Hair must be securely tied back into a neat, tight bun.
- • Ballet & General Classes (Boys): Solid color t-shirt, black dance pants or tights, dance belt, and proper black dance shoes.
- • Hip Hop Classes: Loose-fitting, comfortable athletic clothing and clean sneakers used only for dance.
- • Safety & Jewelry: For student safety, absolutely no jewelry or chewing gum is allowed during dance classes.
- • Inclement Weather Footwear: To keep our dance floors clean and safe, please remove outdoor shoes in the lobby during winter or rainy weather.
SECTION 2 CONDUCT:
Student Conduct & Studio Rules
- • Respectful Behavior: Dancers must conduct themselves in an orderly, polite manner, showing respect to instructors and classmates at all times.
- • Disruptive Behavior Policy: Disruptive behavior will result in the student sitting out of class and a mandatory parent meeting. Continued disruptions may result in removal from the program.
- • Cell Phone Policy: Cell phones are strictly prohibited inside the dance rooms to maintain focus and privacy.
- • Food & Drink: Only water is permitted in the dance rooms. Food, juice, and soda are strictly prohibited.
- • Smoke-Free Facility: Our entire studio campus is strictly smoke-free.
- • Social Media & Choreography: Students and parents must refrain from posting negative comments about the studio, faculty, or other dancers online. Studio choreography is the intellectual property of The Dance Connection and may not be shared online without written permission.
SECTION 3 ATTENDANCE:
Attendance, Punctuality & Make Up Classes
- • Arrival Time: Dancers should arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled class time and check in at the front desk.
- • Late Policy: Students arriving more than 5 minutes late may be asked to sit out and observe to prevent muscle strain or injury from missing the warm-up.
- • Reporting Absences: Please notify our front desk staff via phone or email if your child will be absent or tardy so we can alert their instructor.
- • Makeup Class Policy: Regular attendance is vital to student progress. While we do not offer refunds for missed classes, students are welcome to attend an equivalent makeup class. Please schedule your makeup session at the front desk.
SECTION 4 TUITION:
Tuition Payments, Fees & Schedule
- Our dance season runs from September through June. Tuition is based on a 9-month season.
- • Payment Options: Tuition may be paid Monthly, Quarterly, or Yearly via Cash, Check, or Credit Card.
- • Due Dates: All tuition payments must be paid by the first class of each month.
- • Late Fees: A $10.00 late fee will automatically be applied to any account balance not paid by the 10th of the month.
- • Returned Check Fee: Any returned check will incur a $25.00 service fee.
- • Non-Payment Policy: The Dance Connection reserves the right to refuse lessons or pause enrollment for any student whose tuition account is overdue.
SECTION 5 PLACEMENT:
Class Placement Decisions
- • Placement Criteria: Dancers are placed in classes according to a combination of age, maturity, and technical ability.
- • Faculty Discretion: Final class placement decisions are made at the sole discretion of the studio directors and teaching faculty to ensure the safety and success of every child.
SECTION 6 WEATHER:
Weather Cancellations & Studio Updates
- • Storm Closures: Studio closures due to snow, ice, or severe weather will be broadcast on local television networks WTNH and NBC CT.
- • Digital Updates: Weather cancellations will also be announced immediately on our official Facebook and Instagram pages.
- • Studio News: Please check the front desk or our website homepage regularly for important seasonal updates, holiday reminders, and performance newsletters.
